About Us: The Rhode Island Festival Chorus

Our First Program

"RISings"

Five Rhode Island community choruses decided to put together a state-wide choral festival. The groups met monthly since September of 2004 to develop the following:

  • A one day festival and concert at the historic Veterans Memorial Auditorium Arts and Cultural Center in Providence.

  • Each chorus performed a set of music on their own in the concert.

  • The choruses joined together (260 singers in all!) to sing under the direction Richard D. Mathey, retired Director of Choral Activities, College of Musical Arts, Bowling Green State University of Ohio.

  • Karen Adams, news anchor for WPRI, Channel 12 in Providence was our wonderful Mistress of Ceremonies.
